Ideally suited for high load applications, in virtually all cases the resulting bond is stronger than the base material itself and as the system is based on chemical adhesion, no load stress is imparted to the base material as with expansion type anchors and are therefore ideal for close to edge fixing, reduced center and group anchoring and use in concrete of unknown quality or low compressive strength.Although there are many differing variations and delivery systems in the market, all systems operate using the same basic principle with the base resin, requiring the introduction, by mixing, of a second component to begin the chemical curing process, hence the term chemical anchor. «90005 citate: constructionfixings.com 90006 90007 90004 90007 90002 Understand difference 90003 90004 It is often difficult for someone new to resin anchors to understand the difference between the array of resins available. For those who specify anchors it is also important to understand this difference to ensure any specification changes are to truly equivalent products. 90007 90014 90015 Unsaturated Polyester 90016 90015 Epoxy acrylate also know as Vinyl ester 90016 90015 Pure epoxy 90016 90015 Hybrid systems 90016 90023 90024 Unsaturated Polyester — chemical anchor 90025 90004 This is the classic reactive resin used for the production of 2-component injection mortar, whereby both unsaturated polyester resins dissolved in styrene (the original resin type) and styrene-free unsaturated polyester resins with styrene related monomers as a reactive solvent are used. The 2-component injection mortars made from these resins are fast and easy to use and are characterised by a limited chemical resistance (in alkaline and other media). 90007 90024 Epoxy acrylate — chemical anchor 90025 90004 These classic vinylester resins and the 2-component injection mortar made from them combine the good thermal and mechanical properties of epoxy resins with the easy and fast processability of unsaturated polyester resins. Vinylester resins of the new generation are styrene-free, whereby dimethacrylates are used as reactive solvents. The Vinylester resins and the reactive resin mortar made from them are charcterised by, among others, a very high chemical resistance, especially in alkaline media. 90007 90024 Pure epoxy — chemical anchor 90025 90004 There are various options when it comes to selecting epoxy resins and the respective hardening components, which in turn enables an exact determination of the properties of 2-component injection mortars manufactured from the two components to be determined exactly and adapted to suit specific requirements.Hardened 2-component epoxy resin injection mortars are characterised by very good thermal and mechanical properties and an outstanding resistance to chemicals. The amount of shrinking due to hardening is very low, and good compound properties achieve outstanding load values in diamond-drilled drillholes and larger annular gaps. 90007 90004 90007 90004 90005 The informed selection of resin anchors is very important to ensure safe and long lived fixings. This selection can be difficult when the properties of the different types of resin are not fully understood.Once this is clear however it enables the best and most suited product to be used. Once a particular type has been selected it should only be changed if the key application characteristics are still satisfied by the proposed alternative. 90006 90007 .90000 Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening 90001 90002 90003 90004 Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening (CCHTS) 90005 90006 publishes full length original research articles and reviews / mini-reviews dealing with various topics related to chemical biology (High Throughput Screening, Combinatorial Chemistry, Chemoinformatics, Laboratory Automation and Compound management) in advancing drug discovery research.Original research articles and reviews in the following areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal: 90007 90008 90009 Target identification and validation 90010 90009 Assay design, development, miniaturization and comparison 90010 90009 High throughput / high content / in silico screening and associated technologies 90010 90009 Label-free detection technologies and applications 90010 90009 Stem cell technologies 90010 90009 Biomarkers 90010 90009 ADMET / PK / PD methodologies and screening 90010 90009 Probe discovery and development, hit to lead optimization 90010 90009 Combinatorial chemistry (e.g. small molecules, peptide, nucleic acid or phage display libraries) 90010 90009 Chemical library design and chemical diversity 90010 90009 Chemo / bio-informatics, data mining 90010 90009 Compound management 90010 90009 Pharmacognosy 90010 90009 Natural Products Research (Chemistry, Biology and Pharmacology of Natural Products) 90010 90009 Natural Product Analytical Studies 90010 90009 Bipharmaceutical studies of Natural products 90010 90009 Drug repurposing 90010 90009 Data management and statistical analysis 90010 90009 Laboratory automation, robotics, microfluidics, signal detection technologies 90010 90009 Current & Future Institutional Research Profile 90010 90009 Technology transfer, legal and licensing issues 90010 90009 Patents 90010 90053 90002 In these respective subject areas, Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening is intended to function as the most comprehensive and up-to-date medium available. The journal should be of value to individuals engaged in the process of drug discovery and development, in the settings of industry, academia or government. 90007 .90000 Organic Chemistry and the New MCAT — Master Organic Chemistry 90001 90002 Organic Chemistry and the MCAT, by Leah Fisch 90003 90004 90005 90005 Note from James: This is a guest post by Leah Fisch of Leah5Sci.com, an online resource for learning organic chemistry , MCAT preparation, and other science topics. This is a comprehensive Leah wrote on organic chemistry and the MCAT. You might want to 90007 bookmark 90008 this page for future reference, and be sure to visit Leah’s 90007 Youtube Channel 90008 for more videos on nomenclature as well as other organic chemistry topics.Leah also tutors MCAT and organic chemistry. Her tutoring page is here. 90011 90011 90013 90004 90005 Finally: If you’re planning on taking the MCAT soon, you should download Leah’s free 90007 6-Weeks To MCAT Prep Guide 90008. 90011 90013 90020 90002 Exactly how much organic chemistry is on the MCAT? 90003 90004 As a premed student, organic chemistry is likely one of the most difficult sciences you’ve encountered. Why take such a difficult course? Because you need it for the MCAT! 90013 90004 However, in 2015 року, when the MCAT exam changed, the amount of organic chemistry appeared to decrease, making students wonder just how much time they should dedicate to the topic.90013 90004 Implication: 90005 «is it even worth it?» 90011 90013 90004 The answer is tricky. So instead of telling you how much to study … 90007 let’s break it down. 90008 90013 90004 The MCAT has a total of 4 sections covering 8 disciplines: 90013 90037 90038 Physics 90039 90038 General Chemistry 90039 90038 Organic Chemistry 90039 90038 Biochemistry 90039 90038 Biology 90039 90038 Psychology 90039 90038 Sociology 90039 90038 Verbal Reasoning (CARS) 90039 90054 90004 Organic chemistry is just ONE of the eight subjects you have to study.90013 90004 But it gets better: 90007 orgo shows up in just the first and third section of the 7.5 hour exam. 90008 90013 90004 90062 Section 1: 90063 Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems is just 90062 15% organic chemistry 90063 with the other 85% comprised of general chemistry, biochemistry, physics and biology. 90013 90004 90062 Section 3: 90063 Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems is just 90062 5% organic chemistry 90063 with the other 95% comprised of general chemistry, biochemistry and biology.90013 90004 After a quick calculation organic chemistry appears to be just 5% of the entire exam! 90013 90075 But … 90007 do not let the 5% estimate give you a false sense of security. 90008 90078 90004 Biology is the most highly tested topic, but when you run the math it makes up just 18.75% of the MCAT. 90013 90004 Sounds low? 90013 90004 The math is somewhat misleading. 90013 90004 First of all, when medical schools evaluate your application, they look at more than just your total score. They look to see how you scored in each section, making organic chemistry suddenly more valuable. 90007 Consequently, even though it’s a small part of just two sections on the MCAT, skipping orgo study will tank your score in these sections, making you look bad. 90008 90013 90004 The most important thing to recognize is just HOW organic chemistry is tested. 90013 90004 Fifteen percent of the first section does not mean that 8.85 of 59 questions will be 90007 isolated 90008 organic chemistry questions.90013 90004 Instead, the new MCAT is an integrated exam where you’ll be faced with research- and experiment-style passages combining multiple disciplines into a single passage and question: 90013 90037 90038 While you may not be asked for an R / S question 90005 directly 90011, you may be asked about the optical purity of a newly synthesized experimental drug. 90039 90038 You may not be tested on aldol condensations 90005 directly 90011, but you may face a question asking you how glycolysis will be impacted by a single amino acid mutation in the active site of aldolase, which is the enzyme that catalyzes an aldol-style reaction in glycolysis.90039 90054 90002 90062 Understanding Concepts is MUCH MORE Important than Memorization! 90063 90003 90004 Your orgo professor likely asked 90062 FOR 90063 reactions, mechanisms, products, and lots of pushing arrows. 90013 90004 The MCAT is all multiple choice questions and applied concepts. 90013 90004 As you review reactions, do not worry about 90062 memorizing 90063 mechanisms. 90013 90004 Instead, make sure to ask yourself these questions every step of the way. 90013 90037 90038 What is the purpose of this reaction? 90039 90038 What is the purpose of this mechanism? 90039 90038 What do I 90007 absolutely have to recognize 90008 about the 90007 reactant 90008 and 90007 reagent 90008 to help me understand the product? Focus on getting the logic, understanding the patterns and understanding what’s going on.90039 90054 90004 For example, Grignards are VERY reactive. They’ll attack all sorts of carbonyls. Do not worry about which specific pair of electrons attack. Instead make sure you recognize the resulting alcohol product. 90013 90004 Why can not you dissolve a Grignard in water or ethanol? Why should you complete the reaction with an acid workup AFTER the Grignard reacted? What happens if you mix the aqueous acid with the Grignard at the start of the reaction? 90013 90004 And most importantly, can you recognize the specific functional groups of this reaction when presented in the context of a biological or chemical research experiment? 90013 90004 As an MCAT tutor I’ve been interviewing students after each exam to understand the true nature of questions that arise on the exam.90013 90004 This is where it gets interesting. 90013 90004 Once again, looking at just 15% orgo on the first section I notice an AVERAGE of 15% orgo questions. That is an 90007 average 90008 over the course of many exams combined. 90013 90004 One exam may have just two to three orgo questions about functional groups, S 90152 N 90153 1 reactions or IR spec, while another exam will have as many as 15 organic chemistry questions. 90013 90004 Another thing I’ve noticed is that while you may have learned a certain topic in your organic chemistry course, 90007 the MCAT will find a way to test it under the disguise of biology or biochemistry 90008.This is especially true with amino acid characteristics, separation techniques and of course chirality. 90013 90004 This makes the value of your organic chemistry study much more significant, as orgo success will be success in the other subjects as well. 90013 90002 90062 What does this mean for you as a premed student? 90063 90003 90004 90062 «What about high yield topics?» 90063 90013 90004 Students looking for shortcuts often want to know which high-yield orgo topics to study. 90170 90013 90004 In other words: «if I just have time to cover a bit of orgo, which topics should I focus on?» 90013 90004 This is a trick question.90013 90004 I’ve heard from MCAT testers that any given MCAT has covered multiple passages on a single «low-yield» topic. Students who’ve studied everything will get these correct. Students who followed their MCAT book’s advice on high-yield topics ONLY wound up missing out on quite a few simple (low yield) questions. 90013 90004 For example, one of the 2016 MCATs had no less than 90062 FIVE 90063 passages related to lab separation techniques. If you thought, «sure I’ll cover electrophoresis quickly» and did not study it well enough, you would have missed out on several questions.90013 90004 With all of this in mind, make sure you absolutely master the following starting with all of the beginner orgo topics typically covered in first semester organic chemistry. Then focus on understanding the patterns and functional groups of reactions covered in orgo 2. 90013 90004 Why? Because organic chemistry 2 is simply orgo 1 on steroids building on these very foundations. 90013 90002 Here’s my recommendation for what to cover when studying organic chemistry for the MCAT 90003 90004 The following is not an exhaustive list but a very good start on what to focus on: 90013 90075 90007 1.Start With The Basics 90008 90078 90004 The AAMC considers some of these «general chemistry» topics but you likely covered this in organic chemistry 1. 90013 90004 90062 Nomenclature 90063 90013 90004 Let’s face it, while you will not be tested the nomenclature itself, you better know exactly what is meant by isopropyl, tert-butyl and more. 90013 90075 90062 2. Isomers and Stereochemistry 90063 90078 90075 90007 3. The following topics are sometimes covered in Org 1 or Org 2. Learn these well but do not go too crazy! 90008 90078 90075 90062 4.The following topics are often introduced in orgo but covered in biochemistry 90063 90078 90037 90038 Carbohydrates: orgo focus on Fischer Projections, stereochemistry and some reactions 90039 90038 Amino Acids: orgo focus on Fischer Projections, stereochemistry and some reactions 90039 90054 90075 90007 5. And let’s not forget Lab Techniques 90008 90078 90004 If the MCAT is all about experiments and research, make sure you know and truly understand the following analytical methods including simple graph interpretation: 90013 90004 90062 Separation Techniques 90063 90013 90037 90038 Extraction 90039 90038 Distillation 90039 90038 Chromatography 90039 90054 90075 90007 6.What about all those crazy orgo 2 reactions not listed above? 90170 90008 90078 90004 90062 90245 Do not skip them completely just in case 90246 90063 90062. 90063 90013 90004 Do not go nuts as you review but simply look at your book and try to understand what’s going on. 90013 90004 For example Acetoacetic Ester Synthesis, Michael Addition and more. These are SPECIFIC reactions that incorporate bits and pieces of the reactions listed above. 90013 90004 So while you’re not required to know this mechanism, acetoacetic ester synthesis is really just a combination of the following reactions: 90013 90004 I challenge you to go study the steps and verify that the above is true.90013 90004 The MCAT EXPECTS you to recognize that this is the case, but in reality most students are under too much pressure to make these connections. 90013 90004 To be safe, spend some time each day watching a short advanced reaction mechanism tutorial video or reviewing a single reaction in your orgo book. Let the book / tutorial make the connections for you so that your brain power is reserved for figuring out what the heck they are asking in the passage / question. 90013 90004 Let’s take this to the extreme.90013 90004 Nowhere on the AAMC outline do you see the mention of 90007 alkenes. 90008 90013 90004 90007 Does this mean you can skip it? 90008 90062 Not quite! 90063 90013 90004 Let’s read between the lines: 90013 90037 90038 E1 / E2 including alcohol dehydration = 90007 alkenes 90008. 90039 90038 What if you reverse the reaction? That’s an 90007 alkene 90008 addition reaction! 90039 90038 What if you have to synthesize an alcohol? 90007 Alkenes 90008 make good starting points.90039 90038 What about Cis / Trans E / Z isomers as the product of a reaction? 90039 90054 90004 Once again 90007, alkene reactions. 90008 90013 90004 And yes, MCAT testers 90062 HAVE 90063 confirmed seeing all of this on their MCAT. 90013 90002 90062 What does this mean for you as a premed student? 90063 90003 90004 Do 90062 NOT 90063 discount organic chemistry just because there’s so much else to study. 90013 90004 Instead I recommend breaking up your study schedule so that you devote time to cover a little bit of EACH MCAT topic on a weekly basis including organic chemistry.90013 90075 90007 So how do you structure your schedule in a manner that allows you to cover ALL of the content for the MCAT and work in practice questions and full lengths, without forgetting or burning out? 90008 90078 90075 90007 Download my free ‘6 Weeks to MCAT Prep Guide’ by visiting Leah5sci.com 90008 90078 90020 90004 90005 Thanks for demystifying the recent changes to the MCAT Leah — and best wishes to everyone for a successful test! — J 90011 90013.
